9/23/2008: Just when I thought Dan Brereton created the piece de resistance as far as The Thing, along crawled a stunning surprise with the color monster you see below. Dan, that Thing-like cross-country squeal you heard was me seeing this beautiful pencil piece as I gently removed it from the mailer. Hands down this is my favorite of the four pieces Dan has created for me over the last 7 years and I love all of them. Someone allow Mr. B to do a film adaptation of John Carpenter's The Thing NOW!

P.S. again, this is as big as it gets. But if you love monsters be sure to check out Dan's latest Nocturnals romp, The Carnival of Beasts (kick butt as usual).:

Dan's Blood Test Mac

9/19/2008 Well the summer has come and gone, I'm wrapped up in Statistics and my own characters. Yet what better way to remind me of my love for MacReady and The Thing than getting my gorgeous MacReady/The THING commission from Dan the Man Brereton. Yes, that's the Barlowe take on the original novella thing lurking in the background. How cool is this! Unfortunately, no camera and my scanner is too small, so this is as big as it'll get. Think I'll have to place my Toy Mangler MacReady in front of both MacReady commissions whenever I can get them framed.

Dan's Mac

I'd like to stop here for a moment and say cheers to Toy Mangler for making me MacReady. You can see mini-mac here. For the wonderful work Toy Mangler does, it's worth the price. See more of mini-Mac at Toy Mangler's site. :)

For updated looks on MacReady's bios (both film and print versions)and more links, the new site (I KNOW I'M HUMAN) is be the place to go. It's more of a serious take on my favorite character. Everything else regarding MacReady will continue to be updated here.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let's see those flamethrowers alight as you watch John Carpenter's The Doors!

The site as it's been since the winter of 05.

What goes around comes around, I stalemated the relaunch of the MacReady site. Mac, the erstwhile anti-hero of The Thing is the character by which everyone else has followed these past 17 years.

And up until a month ago, a relaunch with Mac material was still in limbo.

Then I saw the zombie movie with a thousand names: Let Sleeping Corpses Lie a.k.a.The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue (the two titles the film will be known as here). I knew by the end of the first screening I stumbled upon MacReady's earliest ancestor, George Meaning. And I found another monster movie that nearly equaled The Thing in my scare factor.

If you don't believe the separated at birth bit, take a gander at the two gents in monster-roasting action.

Anyway, you find the usuals: character "bios", my thoughts on the actors as their respective alter-egos, comparisons between the two, reviews, hopefully some additional press and possibly fan fiction too. Note: for more detailed MacReady bios please visit the More Mac pages.
