(Realm of Chaos)

Prophet Of Hatred takes the great catchy sloth of Through The Eye Of Terror and drops it completely on it's head. This song is one blistering riff after another (I still cannot believe how fast everyone is zipping along here playing as downtuned as they were). If World Eater completely sold me on the Bolts, Prophet of Hatred sealed the bargain with that gargantuan riff which proceeds Karl's roar of "I am the carrion Lord..."

Oh forget it.

What sounds so completely out of control is not, I can't say the same for myself while this song is on repeat. There is this addictive quality to this and many of the songs on Realm Of Chaos which demand constant replay. Yeah, I'm sure the insanely downtuned riffage has a lot to do with it. It feels like you are violently thrown against the wall as if pommelled by a thousand firing squads all at once. It's that powerful. Prophet is in my top five as far as all time favorite BT songs and I hope it's one the band consider rerecording (or hell, even just playing).

Karl's delivery here is the most menacing of his performances on Realm, but it's those riffs that just continue to kill me even after almost 18 years of absorption.

The song also features some of Realm's best lyrics, among them:

"Mercy - in this world I give you none."

An absolutely crackin' way to end one of the greatest and most lethal slabs of music ever created.

My neck aches in tribute.
